ROI Communication wishes you a very happy International Women’s Day 2019! As a certified women-owned business, and 10+ year member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), we are more committed than ever to #balanceforbetter to empower, advance and support women.
#balanceforthebetter—this year’s official theme—encourages men and women to better the balance and better the world, together. Thanks to www.internationalwomensday.com for these great ideas aimed at honoring International Women’s Day 2019 today—and all year long:
Find and attend a women’s networking event as a team:
Whatever industry you’re in, March is an excellent month for women’s events, initiatives and conferences. These events help female professionals support and empower each other, share knowledge and build mentorships. Most conferences also have roundtables and panels where industry specific challenges for women are addressed. If you’re a female professional, consider signing up as a panel speaker and invite your colleagues along to support you.
Donate to your local women’s center or shelter:
All over the world, women and children are disproportionate victims of family violence. The World Health Organizationestimates that globally 38 percent of murders of women are committed by an intimate male partner. Escaping an abusive domestic situation can be extremely difficult, and women’s centers and shelters are an essential lifeline for women and children who need to leave. Without these services more lives would be lost. Consider running a donation drive for your local women’s center around the office—every contribution counts.
Do something kind for a woman you admire:
Whether it’s someone in leadership, a networking contact, or someone on the front desk, do something kind for a female colleague you respect. Write them a card telling them why you respect them. Remember, it’s important that we all show gratitude and work on building up the women around us.
You’ll see people all over the world today showing their support visually and via social media. But remember, this is a theme to carry on throughout the year as you make a commitment to yourself, your team and your organization to #balanceforthebetter.
