Cathy Boone

Vice President, Strategist

Cathy has traveled extensively around the world, and always helps clients see challenges from a fresh perspective.

As a photographer exploring Yosemite Valley, Cathy Boone once endured hours in freezing, pouring rain to capture the first ray of sunshine piercing the clouds above El Capitan. As a seasoned communication consultant, she brings a similar focus to honing ideas to their very essence.

“You have to be clear about the story you’re telling and get rid of all the distractions,” Cathy said. “Like a good photo, you need to help people focus and engage.”

At ROI, Cathy leverages this approach to advance leadership development and drive cultural change through diversity and inclusion. She’s helped companies like Blue Shield of California, Adobe, Cisco, Toyota Research Institute, and others create, implement, and expand programming that elevates the impact of employee resource groups, builds broader empathy and understanding, and provides meaningful and lasting change within organizations.

Cathy has spent over 20 years developing her leadership and communication skills with positions in politics, law, and the tech industry. Before joining ROI Communication, Cathy held leadership roles of increasing responsibility at Applied Materials, Covad Communications Company, Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, and as a Congressional Legislative Director. She earned a BA from Dickinson College and a JD from Emory University School of Law.

When she’s not advising clients, Cathy enjoys traveling, hiking, photography, and planning her next big adventure.
