Cyrus Mavalwala


Cyrus is an accredited and award-winning communications practitioner and speaker who has been helping companies achieve their business objectives for 17 years. Experienced with early-stage companies, not-for-profits and industry leaders, Cyrus has traveled the U.S., Europe and Canada while on assignment.

As founder and partner at Advantis Communications, a Canadian-based ROI Communication partner, Cyrus delivers messaging and positioning, strategic communications planning, writing, media & analyst relations, media training, social media, multimedia, internal communications and tradeshow marketing for ROI’s international clients.

Before founding Advantis Communications Inc. in the spring of 2002, Cyrus worked at Hill and Knowlton and Fleishman-Hillard. He also co-led H&K’s Business-to-Business technology committee. Cyrus’ brand experience includes brand leaders such as BMO Bank of Montreal, Microsoft Canada, Hewlett Packard Canada, Grand & Toy, High Liner Foods, Intuit Canada, Agfa, Eloqua, the Canadian Office of Sony Computer Entertainment America as well as high growth companies such as Policy Medical, FITC, Indusblue and Live Poker.

In the not-for-profit sector, Cyrus has managed communications and created a Web presence for the Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy and was a writer and media spokesperson for environmental health issues at the Toronto and Ontario Lung Associations. Cyrus also volunteered as a mediator for the Conflict Resolution Service at St. Stephen’s Community House in Toronto.

Cyrus is a two-time Toronto board member of the International Association of Business Communicators and also volunteers on the International Continuous Professional Development Committee. He judges national and international awards and frequently speaks.

Cyrus graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.Sc. and has augmented his work experience with a variety of postgraduate public relations courses at Ryerson Polytechnical University.
