As the daughter of an Air Force officer whose career took her family around the world, Lisa Clarey-Lawler attended 16 schools by the age of 18. Looking back, that experience profoundly influenced her eventual career in consulting, which requires her to be adept at change and always excited to learn something new.
“I tend to focus on the positive aspects of change and enjoy helping organizations navigate complex challenges, especially during intense periods of transition and transformation,” Lisa said. “Effective communication and engagement are critical to any company’s successful evolution.”
Lisa joined the ROI Communication team in 2018 with more than 25 years of experience in marketing, communication, and branding. Prior to ROI, she served for three years as the Vice President of Employment Brand at VMware, a software subsidiary of Dell Technologies. In this role, she led the company’s global strategy for managing and measuring employee engagement and employer reputation to attract, develop and retain top talent.
Before joining VMware, Lisa consulted with many companies on their overall marketing, communication and branding strategies. Clients included Adobe, Allied Telesis, Amdahl, BEA, FVC.com, Kodiak, Novell, Onetta, SyQuest, Tandem and Cisco, where over 16 years she was instrumental in developing communication strategy and programs for several business groups.
Lisa’s belief in the imperative of effective engagement extends to her volunteer work with non-profit organizations. Whether they are raising money or defining their mission, she helps them articulate their goals, captivate supporters and achieve their true potential.
Lisa graduated from Boston College with a BA in English and Psychology, and has completed extension coursework at Harvard in Marketing Management and Financial Accounting Principles. When she’s not advising clients, she loves entertaining, interior design, hiking with her golden retriever Scout, and adventure travel with Bruce, her husband of nearly 30 years.
