About Luisa
Collin County, Texas

When Luisa Diaz Jimmerson arrived in the United States as a refugee from Cuba, she was just three years old and spoke only Spanish. Her early struggles in school – teachers yelling at her for misunderstanding instructions, and belittling her in front of classmates – not only strengthened her resolve to excel, but ultimately influenced her career in communication.

“Those early experiences made me more understanding and more respectful towards others in how I communicate,” Luisa said. “So whenever I develop strategy or content for a client, I always keep in mind not just what I want people to know, but also what I want them to feel.”

Luisa joined the ROI Communication team with more than 15 years of experience as a communications professional in a wide range of industries, including hospitality, industrial products, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, public utilities, consumer products and professional services. Immediately prior to joining ROI, she worked as a consultant for Hilton, where she developed strategy to refine the company’s digital value proposition – work that proved especially prescient when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Working in hospitality also honed her sensitivity to delivering exceptional customer service.

Previously, as a Manager of Corporate Communications at Flowserve Corporation – a global leader in pumps, valves and seals – Luisa worked closely with company leaders to enhance employee engagement and performance through surveys, presentations, and localized, multi-lingual, mobile-friendly campaigns around the world.  “I’m very sensitive to the needs of an audience. I never want people to feel lost, so the simpler and more direct your communication, the better. Get them what they need.”

In earlier roles, she served as a Marketing and Communications Manager at McKesson Corporation; as an IT Communications Consultant at Energy Future Holdings; as Director of Communications and a Manger of Internal Communications and Diversity at G6 Hospitality; as a Public Affairs and Communication Specialist at Rent-A-Center; and as an IT Asset Manager and Contributing Editor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

“I love communication because I have seen the impact it can make,” she said. “Most of my career has been devoted to internal communications – finding creative ways to inform, engage and motivate teams to out-perform expectations.”

Luisa earned a BA in Marketing from Dallas Baptist University, and has completed additional coursework in public relations, internal communications and culture development. She is also adept in a wide range of collaboration, social media and other digital workplace platforms.

When she’s not advising clients, Luisa enjoys songwriting, singing in her church choir, cooking, and traveling abroad with her husband. She lives near Dallas.
