Andrea is an expert at spotting underpriced treasures at flea markets and estate sales. As a marketer, she always knows the value of what she’s selling.

For Andrea Gonzalez, marketing is part science, part alchemy. And as someone who honed her craft at some of the world’s leading vineyards, she always seeks that perfect confluence.

“Marketing is about discovering shared needs, finding common ground, making connections and – most importantly – activating those connections,” Andrea said. “Whatever you are selling, you have to understand why people do what they do to find the emotion that moves them to action.”

Andrea, who works on the marketing and sales team at ROI Communication, began her marketing career as an intern with the PlumpJack Hospitality Group’s wine division. Discovering a talent for analyzing data and improving efficiency, she rose to assist the company’s Marketing Director for multiple estates – managing social media, creating digital content, elevating tasting room protocols and training, and cultivating community relations during a major acquisition and grand re-opening.

Later, at Jackson Family Wines, Andrea was promoted several times in seven years, eventually leading sales marketing for its $50 million premium wine division – a global enterprise representing 15 domestic and international wineries with a portfolio of more than 250 different wines. In this role, worked on a range of internal and external campaigns, strengthening the company’s culture, communications and operations.

Subsequently, as an independent marketing consultant, Andrea advised a wide range of communicators, marketers, and executives on sales and marketing communication, brand and product launches, mergers and acquisitions, operations, and presentation design.

“It’s invigorating when you can help people reach their vision,” she said. And it’s that same sentiment – a passion for understanding, engaging and motivating people – that informs her work at ROI Communication.

Andrea earned a BA in both Rhetoric and American Studies from the University of California at Berkeley, an MBA from California State University at Sonoma, and certificates in Enology, Viticulture and Wine Business Marketing from Santa Rosa Junior College.

When she’s not working, Andrea enjoys antiquing, cooking, and entertaining. She lives in San Jose.
